As the final season for Cobra Kai, Netflix is going all out with an unprecedented three-part release schedule, and part 2 is imminent. We'll explain more about this a bit further on in this guide, as well as when we might expect part 3.

Cobra Kai season 6 part 2 release date

We knew that Cobra Kai's farewell season was arriving in some capacity this year, with Netflix revealing Cobra Kai would return in 2024 via a new release schedule update. What we didn't expect, though, was that Cobra Kai season 6 wouldn't have one or two launch dates, but three. Indeed, the series is releasing in three volumes: part 1 is out now, part 2 arrives on November 15, and part 3 lands sometime in 2025.

Cobra Kai's sixth season will be a mega 15 episode epic, meaning we'll be treated to five more episodes than the standard 10 that previous seasons have had. Start practising your crane kicks accordingly, everyone.

Cobra Kai season 6 part 2 trailer

The official trailer for Cobra Kai season 6 part 2 was released in late October. In the two-minute clip, the Miyagi-Do are seen arriving to the Sekai Taikai in Barcelona ready to fight and, hopefully, become world champions.

In this completely new environment, the battle clearly won't be an easy one as the team are shown struggling round after round against new faces. Plus, Tory's arrival as part of Kreese's team in the global tournament looks to further shake up the Miyagi-Do. To guide them, Johnny Lawrence makes a motivational speech, but will it be enough?

We also expect to see Thomas Ian Griffin make an appearance as Terry Silver and Joe Seo as Kyler Park, although they haven't been confirmed to turn up in the show's final outing. While Paul Walter Hauser made a surprise return as Stingray in part 1's premiere episode, it's unclear whether he'll return again in part 2.

Spoilers follow for season 6 part 1. A character that won't be returning for season 6 part 2 is Tory's mum, Grace (Bethany DeZelle). As was seen in part 1's final episode, Grace passed away suddenly from a pulmonary embolism and her death, which we'll talk more about in the plot below, threw Tory's role in the Miyagi-Do into turmoil.

Cobra Kai season 6 part 2 plot synopsis and speculation

Major spoilers follow for Cobra Kai up to and including season 6 part 1.

For Cobra Kai season 6 part 2, Netflix released this official plot synopsis, "At the Sekai Taikai, Miyagi-Do faces new challenges and old enemies as they fight to become world champions - can they stay united as internal rivalries bubble back to the surface?"

So, where did we leave things in season 6 part 1? Well, we saw training commence for the global tournament while Tory, grieving the loss of her mother, dramatically joined Cobra Kai led by Kreese and Kim Da-Eun. Tory’s participation in the opposing team is sure to ruffle feathers and create a divide between the karate prodigies at the Sekai Taikai.

In an interview with TODAY.com, Peyton List aka Tory says on season 6’s plot, “For some reason he (Kreese) sees something in Tory, and she feels like it’s her only option, even though it’s not, but in that moment, she can’t see clearly.” Whether Tory sees clearly in season 6 part 2, we’ll have to wait and see. What we do know is that part 2 will pit Kreese's team against the Miyagi-Do on a global stage.

Speaking to Tudum, co-creator Jon Hurwitz says, "We left off with the big surprise that Tory had joined Cobra Kai, so we're in the aftermath of that with everyone reacting to what just happened, while also trying to get their footing - as the new kids on the block - of this giant international tournament that has been going on for decades. They have no idea what's in store for them."

As seen in the season 6 part 2 trailer, the Miyagi-Do are clearly struggling against these new opponents. Co-creator Hayden Schlossberg reveals that it's Cobra Kai as you've never seen it before, "The first thing that you're going to notice is we're not in the Valley anymore. It's a totally different environment. The competitive space is different from previous All Valley tournaments. There's no crowd watching. This is a karate temple that they're going to, where the only people in attendance are black belts or karate masters."

One of which is a new face in Cobra Kai, Sensei Wolf (Lewis Tan) who leads his own team of students in the competition. A character who Josh Heald says will be "tremendously important" in part 2.

As for what else lies in store for the rest of season 6, William Zabka, who plays Johnny, said (via X/Twitter): "It’s been an awesome long journey but it’s not over yet. Season six could be the biggest, the badass-est most amazing season of Cobra Kai yet". Big claims, indeed.

Meanwhile, we know that Johnny’s wife Carmen is pregnant with their much longed-for baby, so the drama could also pick up on that.

Alicia Hannah-Kim, who plays Kim Da-Eun, also teased that her character is far from done, and thinks there’s more mileage for the female sensei. Before her return was announced, she told Deadline: "Hopefully, we will continue what we’ve started in season 5 on Cobra Kai… I think they’ve opened a Pandora's box with Kim Da-Eun and Master Kim Sun-Young. It really brought a darker element to this season and I’m curious what could happen now that Cobra Kai is ostensibly defeated. I do know Kim is hellbent on global domination for her family’s legacy so there’s a lot yet to explore."

Season 6 part 2 opens up a whole new world for the karate teens (Image credit: Netflix)

And there's even more to explore as Daniel began to learn about Miyagi in a whole new way in part 1 after discovering a secret box under some floorboards. The findings pointed to a dark past by revealing a passport with Miyagi’s photo, under a different name. He also learns that Miyagi himself competed in the Sekai Taikai. So, there’s plenty more to uncover as Cobra Kai continues in season 6 part 2.

Co-creator, Jon Hurwitz, in conversation with Tudum says: "The middle five [episodes], you get to see martial arts at a level higher than you’ve ever seen before. You get to meet new, exciting characters and take all of our combustible characters, and you get to see karate outside of the Valley. How are they going to handle the pressure? How are they going to handle being in the most intense karate fight of their lives while it’s not harmonious between them?"

Will Cobra Kai season 6 bring the hit show to an end?

Yep. When Cobra Kai season 6 was announced, it was sadly revealed that it would be the show's final outing.

However, it’s not totally out for the count. In a statement (via X/Twitter) confirming that the main series would end with season 6, its creators hinted at potential spin-offs in the future, writing: "This fandom is the BEST on the planet and we hope to be telling more Karate Kid stories with you down the line. Because as we all know, Cobra Kai Never Dies.” So, stay tuned for possible spin-offs to come, gang!
