Niners hire Brandon Staley
Many connected Staley, fired as head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, to be the Niners’ new defensive coordinator following the firing of Steve Wilks.
He does not get the DC job but was hired by Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers to be assistant head coach.
Niners promote new DC
The Niners promoted one of their coaches for their new DC. Their new defensive leader is Nick Sorensen, previously their defensive passing game specialist.
Niners want WR Brandon Aiyuk to stay a long time
The Niners could be looking at conflict with receiver Brandon Aiyuk. After a career year, he enters the final year of his contract. Niners GM John Lynch made it clear the team wants him around a long time.
Niners promote 2 after departure of Adam Peters
Assistant GM Adam Peters became the GM of the Washington Commanders. San Francisco made two moves to replace him.
They did not name anyone assistant general manager, but promoted both Tariq Ahmad and RJ Gillen to Director of Player Personnel.
