Leeds United have seen an approach rejected by Liverpool for attacker Takumi Minamino, according to the Evening Standard.
The Whites, along with AS Monaco, have seen their interest turned down by the Reds as Jurgen Klopp appears determined to keep the 27-year-old.
Minamino has struggled for game time since his move to Merseyside two years ago, making just 49 appearances across all competitions so far.
However, during his limited number of minutes for the club he has made a decent impact, scoring 10 goals.
Liverpool boss Klopp has been a huge admirer of Minamino ever since the Japan international starred for Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League at Anfield.
He scored as the Austrian side were defeated 4-3, which prompted Klopp into buying him just three months later.
Despite struggling to dislodge the likes of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota during his time, Klopp has always been full of praise for Minamino.
After he scored the opener in a 2-0 win over Preston North End earlier this season, Klopp stated that he would have no problems playing him more regularly in the event of absences to his front line.
He said: "Taki is a player of high quality but the problem with Taki, actually, there is no problem. It's just the other players in his position are really good and thank God for us that we have had no injuries there.
"That is it but Taki is an outstanding moments and training-wise much better than he showed tonight and he was the most dangerous player. He scored the goal and that was important.
"He understands our game really well as well, so you can throw him in and he will immediately be a massive part of our football. Tonight, he was, obviously. Taki was really good. We know he can be even better."
Minamino also found the back of the net earlier this season when he came off the bench against Arsenal to net the fourth goal in a 4-0 win.
That prompted Klopp into showering Minamino with a high level of praise, discussing both his effort levels in training and personality as two reasons why he is highly appreciated within the club.
Both of those attributes would enable him to fit in extremely well at Leeds.
He said: “Taki scored for us at the weekend after being on the pitch for a matter of seconds and I promise you there will not have been a more popular goalscorer in our group at that moment. You could tell that from all of our reactions.
“This is, of course, partly because we love him as a person. He has such a warm and generous soul. However, it was far more than just his endearing personality that made us so pleased. It was because of the attitude he shows and the contribution he makes day in and day out.
“Without question he is a person who helps set our standards. I cannot praise highly enough the level he shows in training. He takes the maximum possible from each session. He is a coach’s dream.
“Being ready to contribute is a prerequisite for being a member of our group. Taki has been the epitome of it this season, along with others, and it will be an important quality for us going forward.”
