Co-op urgently recalls spaghetti product over 'possible health risk'

Co-op has recalled one of its spaghetti products due to a "possible health risk" to certain customers.

The supermarket is recalling a batch of its Co-op Spaghetti Rings in Tomato Sauce due to the presence of celery. According to the Food Standards Agency, this makes it "a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to celery".

Customers who have purchased the product in question are urged to return it to their nearest Co-op supermarket for a refund. Co-op has also advised shoppers to contact the relevant allergy support organisations.

Additionally, the supermarket has issued point-of-sale notices to its customers. These notices explain why the product is being recalled and inform them what to do if they have bought it.

In a statement, Co-op said: "Product is being recalled due to product containing product different to the label which contains allergen celery which is not on label.

"Return product to nearest Co-op store for a refund, or if you are self-isolating or shielding please contact our Customer Careline."

You can get in touch with Co-op at 0800 0686 727 or customer.careline@coop.co.uk.
