Co-op issues urgent recall on popular products due to incorrect date labelling

Co-op has issued an urgent recall on some of its popular products.

It comes as the FSA (Food Standards Agency) said the supermarket products had been labelled with a ‘use by’ date of July 1 2022 instead of June 1 2022.

Because of this its 'risk statement' reads the products therefore "may be unsafe to eat after the intended ‘use by’ date due to risk of bacterial growth that could cause illness if consumed."

In a bid to recall the affected products that may have been purchased, point-of-sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores selling the products.

The signs will also explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the products.

As of now, the FSA say that if you have bought the products, do not eat them and instead return them to your nearest store for a full refund.

The dates were not labelled correctly. (Co-op.)
