It is a traditional pub serving local food with an upstairs restaurant that boasts panoramic views of Belfast Lough and a downstairs bar with real log fires where you can enjoy a pint of cask-conditioned ale as well as the usual offering and fine food.
Green Party Councillor Rachel Woods took to social media to join in the celebrations for The Dirty Duck's big win.
The Holywood Cllr tweeted: "Am a wee bit biased, but proud to work here with the kitchen and front of house team.
"Now the [Dirty Duck] is the best gasto pub not only in Ulster, but in Ireland thanks to the Irish Restaurant Awards".
The awards, now in their 14th year, had a record number of public nominations with over 130,000 responses.
Ahead of the final, president of the Restaurants Association of Ireland, Paul Lenehan said: "The awards are an opportunity to celebrate the existing, and up and coming talent, in the sector and are a reminder that hospitality is nothing without their dedicated and passionate staff."
