Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will open the golden jubilee celebration of the Calicut Press Club here on Saturday.
Press Club president M. Firos Khan and secretary P.S. Rakesh told the media on Thursday that the event would be held at Ashirwad Lawns in the city at 12 p.m. Ministers P.A. Mohamed Riyas, Ahammed Devarkovil, and A.K. Saseendran, and Mayor Beena Philip would be present.
The functionaries said that year-long events had been planned to mark the golden jubilee. It was then Chief Minister C. Achutha Menon, who laid the foundation stone for the Press Club on November 16, 1971. The celebrations could not be held on time because of the pandemic, they said.
