US corporation's Clydebank office sprayed with red paint in Gaza protest

AN American corporation's building in Clydebank has been sprayed with red paint in a protest over its operations in Israel.

Chevron Training Centre in the Clydebank Business Park was pictured with red paint over its glass windows and doors.

Paint can be seen on the revolving doors at the entrance to the centre and along the sides of the building.

Chevron is an American corporation which specialises in oil and gas and is active in several countries around the globe, including Israel.

The word 'genocide' can be seen written on the wall of the building (Image: Newsquest) In a post on social media, the photos were released by an X account with the words "fuelling genocide" beneath the image.

The post read: "Chevron fuels the Zionist genocide machine and apartheid system, supplying 70% of the Zionist state's energy."

The images go on to say that Chevron "operates and part-owns two gas fields off the coast of Palestine".

Chevron has said it "respects the right of people to express their view"' but that it expects "respect for employees and facilities".

In a statement, the company said: “Chevron respects the rights of people to express their views peacefully and lawfully, and we expect a similar level of respect for our employees and facilities.  "We are deeply concerned about the recent global events and the devastating impact on communities. Our thoughts are with those affected.  "Chevron remains focused on reliably providing the energy the world needs. "Chevron supports energy development efforts in the East Mediterranean. We believe our projects in the Eastern Mediterranean can continue to play a significant role in supplying much-needed energy within the region and globally.  "As a global enterprise, Chevron learns from and respects the cultures in which we operate. Wherever we are present, we operate in compliance with all local laws and international standards. “

A police spokesperson said: "Around 1.30pm on Monday, October, 21, 2024 police received a report of vandalism at premises in Clydebank Business Park, Murdoch Drive, Clydebank. "Enquiries are ongoing."
