There are lots of reasons to leave the football field in the middle of a touchdown drive. Most of them are bad.
So when Clyde Edwards-Helaire waddled off the field and to the Kansas City Chiefs’ sideline in the third quarter of a vital showdown with the Buffalo Bills, fans could be excused for assuming the worst. Fortunately for everyone involved, he wasn’t coming off the field to get checked out by trainers. He wasn’t getting benched due to a misread or a lack of effort.
He was coming off the field because the Bills nearly ripped his damn pants off.

Yep, that’s Edwards-Helaire, inches away from the kind of wardrobe malfunction that would have resulted in a significant CBS fine and a brand new reputation in the hearts and minds of the millions of Swifties tuned in across the world. The former first round pick missed the the next three plays before coming back in for a ripped-pants one-yard gain. Shortly after, a four-yard touchdown strike from Patrick Mahomes to Rashee Rice capped a long scoring drive
That should buy Edwards-Helaire enough time to find a new pair of pants. Or, at the very least, get used to the sensation of a cold breeze along his upper thigh.
