Chelsea and Manchester City’s group opponents for the 2025 Club World Cup have been revealed following the tournament draw.
FIFA have overhauled the tournament format from previous years, expanding the competition from seven teams to 32.
It will now be a month-long spectacle held every four years, with the inaugural edition of the revamped tournament set to take place in the United States during June and July 2025.
Akin to a traditional World Cup format, teams will play each other once in the group phase, and the top two from each group will progress to the knockout stage.
Chelsea and Manchester City are the only English clubs competing in next year’s tournament.
The winners of the 2021 Champions League, Chelsea, will compete in Group D alongside Flamengo of Brazil, Club Leon of Mexico, and Esperance de Tunis of Tunisia.
Meanwhile, the 2023 Champions League winners, Manchester City, find themselves in Group G, competing against Juventus of Italy, Wydad AC of Morocco, and Al Ain of the United Arab Emirates.
Elsewhere in the draw, Ligue 1 Champions PSG will face Spanish giants Atletico Madrid in Group B, while Bayern Munich go head-to-head with Benfica in another all-European showdown in the group stage.
Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami will take on Egyptian side Al Ahly at the Hard Rock Stadium in the opening match in Miami.
