Club chief explains midfielder transfer decision after Nottingham Forest interest

Lyon president Vincent Ponsot has explained why Nottingham Forest summer target Houssem Aouar remained at the club, despite being subject of interest throughout the transfer window.

The 24-year-old was heavily linked with a move to the City Ground, and Forest were looking to complete a late move for the midfielder. Reports claimed that the Reds already had an agreement in place, despite Lyon rejecting three bids throughout the window.

The two sides were reportedly £4.2million apart in their valuation, with Forest willing to pay £8.5m, while Lyon were looking for a fee of around £12.7m. Alongside Forest, Leicester City, Crystal Palace and Real Betis had also apparently expressed an interest.
