Cloudy humid weather for South West ahead of heavy showers

The South West looks set for showers over the coming days as a noticeable split in weather across the country means a heatwave for other regions. According to the Met Office, the North and the West of the country is forecast to receive more wet and thundery weather, while the South and East basks in hotter, sunnier weather.

For those at Glastonbury Festival, forecasts predict that weather will be 'fair' with "only a small chance of a shower", the Met Office says. While Friday and Saturday forecasts predicted a good deal of dry, bright weather with some sunny spells and highs in the mid-20s, Sunday at the festival looks set to start with very warm and humid weather, and a small chance of a shower during the afternoon - the evening will be cooler, with a strengthening westerly breeze, but will remain dry.

For the rest of the West, Sunday looks to see a cold front bringing a short spell of heavy rain, moving East through the day. There is a chance, however, of "organised and perhaps severe" thunderstorms across more central and northern areas, too.
