Clothing brand Lucy and Yak plans new Nottingham store

A major clothing label with a focus on sustainable clothing looks set to open its fourth branch in Nottingham. The shop is currently recruiting for managers and key holders for the new shop.

It has not been confirmed where the new store will be located but the jobs list the estimated opening date as 'early 2023.' Lucy and Yak has its flagship store in Brighton along with two smaller branches in Norwich and Bristol.

The brand is known for its comfy, organic fabrics especially its dungarees which have become one of its best sellers. Available in a range of colours, the brand has since moved into accessories such as backpacks.

Lucy and Yak announced the vacancies on its website where it's looking for someone to make the new shop 'incredible.' A statement reads: "We are opening more stores across the UK in 2023 making it an incredibly exciting time to join our amazing growing retail team. We can’t wait to expand and give customers the chance to come hang out with us in person and try things on."

The business is offering £25-£30,000 per year for a store manager who must have at least two years of experience and £11.30 per hour for their key holding staff. There are also six other vacancies for staff at £11.10 per hour with various hours.

The brand was started by Chris Renwick and Lucy Greenwood in 2014 when they went travelling. The couple sold pouches made from pre-loved clothing before they moved back to the UK and set up a business on the app, Depop. They opened their first shop in 2019 before expanding to other cities.

There are a number of locations in the city centre that could be an option for the new brand including vacant premises in Bridlesmith Gate and Hockley. Jack Wilis and Kurt Geiger are just two of the businesses that have recently closed their city centre locations.
