Clippers’ George to Miss At Least 2-to-3 Weeks With Knee Sprain

A day after he suffered a scary knee injury in a loss to the Thunder, the Clippers announced on Wednesday that star forward Paul George would be re-evaluated again in two-to-three weeks. That timeline likely means that George will not appear on the court again during the regular season.

George suffered the injury late in the fourth quarter of Tuesday night’s game while going for a rebound. He landed awkwardly on his right leg and remained on the ground in pain for several minutes before being helped to the locker room. He reportedly left the arena on a cart with the injured leg extended.

George, an eight-time All-Star, has dealt with injuries throughout his career but had been a dependable stalwart for Los Angeles this season. He’s averaged 23.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game this season in 56 contests, his most games played since joining the Clippers.

The Clippers are currently 38–35 and in possession of the No. 5 seed in the Western Conference with nine games remaining. They hold a 1.5 game lead on the Thunder and Mavericks, who are tied for the No. 7 seed and are projected to be in the play-in tournament.
