Twenty years since the opening of Bill Clinton's presidential library and museum in Little Rock, Arkansas, the area surrounding the facility has undergone significant transformation. The once-sleepy downtown area has seen development spurred by the museum, with an entertainment district flourishing in a former industrial zone to the east. Adjacent to the building, a former railroad bridge over the Arkansas River is now frequented by cyclists and runners.

Despite the external changes, the museum's interior has remained largely unchanged over the past two decades. Exhibits include touchscreen displays of Clinton's daily schedules, replicas of the Oval Office and Cabinet Room, and electronic tickers showcasing the 42nd president's achievements. However, plans are underway for a major update and expansion to incorporate Hillary Rodham Clinton's personal archives.

The library officials aim to refresh current exhibits and technology while providing additional context to major decisions made during the Clinton administration. The proposed changes come amidst evolving perspectives within the Democratic Party regarding some of Clinton's policies, such as the 1994 crime bill. The expansion will also introduce more community spaces for events, programs, and student groups.

Bill Clinton, a prominent figure in the Democratic Party, continues to be active in politics and is viewed as an elder statesman. The library's expansion will shed more light on Hillary Rodham Clinton's contributions, spanning her time as first lady, senator, secretary of state, and two presidential campaigns. An institute within the library will serve as a hub for her nonprofit and advocacy work.
