Cliftonville announce signing of central defender Jamie Robinson

Cliftonville have announced the summer signing of defender Jamie Robinson. The 20-year-old joins the Reds having recently been with English National League side Chesterfield.

Robinson spent part of last season on loan with Sheffield FC but is now preparing for a spell in the Irish Premiership after linking up with Paddy McLaughlin's men. The central defender - who started his career at Maiden City Academy - featured in Cliftonville's recent friendly fixtures with Derry City and Shamrock Rovers.

He told the Reds' website: “It’s great to get the deal done and have my future sorted out very quickly after coming back home. I know I’m walking into a changing room full of quality players and I’m looking forward to being a part of that and helping the team challenge.

"I know a few of the players from Maiden City Academy and they’re a good bunch, which is always a help when you move to a new Club. Cliftonville had a great season last year so there will probably be higher expectations going into the coming season but that’s something I’m pleased to be a part of.”

Robinson becomes Cliftonville's fourth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Ronan Hale, Gerard Storey and Fynn Talley.
