Clifton neighbour heard 'loud scream' after man taken to hospital with stab wounds in Nottingham

Distraught neighbours have told of their concern after a police incident in Clifton. A man, aged in his 40s, was taken to the hospital with stab wounds after reports of a serious assault on Donington Road.

Local residents in the community have described a significant police presence in the area following the incident. Police were called to reports shortly before 11pm on Sunday night, December 4.

The force is investigating the incident and has asked anyone who might have information to come forward. Serena Cawley, a concerned neighbour who lives nearby, said she heard a loud scream in the middle of the night.

"All I heard was a man shout really loudly," the 30-year-old recalled. "It was a really loud scream, I think there was a car there and the door was open.

"It sounded like someone got stabbed, that's the kind of scream it was. I said to my partner it sounded like someone had been stabbed."

Ms Cawley said around seven police vehicles and an ambulance were at the scene and officers remained for hours. "There were police cars down the road and officers walking up and down, I saw someone get taken in an ambulance," she added.

Another resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said her grandad had been drinking at the British Legion, located on Donington Road, at the time. "My mum was worried as she heard someone had been stabbed," she said.

Detective Constable Richard Doel, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Officers are continuing to investigate a serious assault on Donington Road, Clifton. Police were called to the road shortly before 11pm yesterday (Sunday 4 December), to reports a man had been injured. The man, aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital with stab wounds and remains in a stable condition.

"His injuries are not currently believed to be life-threatening or life-altering. This is an ongoing investigation, and we are working hard to track down the person or people involved.

“I want to reassure the public in the area that you will see more officers out on patrols in the area as we continue to investigate this isolated incident. I want to urge anyone with any information, no matter how small, to come forward and get in touch with us.”
