Former Clifton College teacher name-drops famous cousin in an attempt to return to Australia

A Bristol teacher has name-dropped his famous cousin as he desperately tries to return to Australia following the number of international airport arrivals in July being capped by the Government.

According to the Daily Mail, around 25,000 Australians are unable to return home after the country's Government capped the number of international airport arrivals in July in an attempt to try and ease the pressure on hotel quarantine programmes.

And Edward Swanwick - who, according to his LinkedIn, has worked as the Deputy Head at Clifton College in Bristol - is one of them.

The teacher took to Facebook to explain that him and his family were stranded in the UK and trying to return to Australia and that his famous cousin was willing to help.

In a post that was shared to a hotel quarantine Facebook group and read:

"We’re a family of five Australians wanting to return home from the UK.

"While our situation feels desperate, I’m sure we are not in as desperate a situation as others.

"My cousin is Sylvia Jeffreys, from Channel Nine, who has suggested I find a few individuals or families who are in a really desperate situation so she can pitch a story to A Current Affair.

"She wants to help us by keeping the pressure on the Federal Government to do more and do it faster with a view to getting us all home before Christmas."

In the post he went on to say: "I've attached this photo of me at Sylvia's wedding so you know I'm legit."

Jeffreys is an Australian journalist and is the co-host of Today Extra with David Campbell and is married to Sky News presenter Peter Stefanovic.

Some members of the group asked Swanwick to prove that he was in fact who he said he was with one person saying: "Sylvia might be legit but how do we know that is you?"

This prompted the teacher to share a selfie of him with newspaper from that date.

And in an update, Swanick said that he had been told by his famous cousin that 'she'll try Nine News and if that fails she will at least write an article for 9news.com.au.'
