When it comes to the summer, there’s one thing that can help put people in a good mood, especially on a Friday afternoon - a good, cold pint. But finding the best place for a cheap beverage in Bristol isn’t easy, especially amid the cost of living crisis.
However, all is not lost, as one Bristolian has shared a map pinpointing where you can find the best bargains along the harbourside. Sharing the information on his Twitter account, Josh Geake said: “Went on a “budget” pub crawl last night in Bristol and found a £2 Thatchers and a £2.75 pint of Tribute. All were good and friendly”
Along with the post he shared a map of his route and what he thought of some of the pubs along the way. He said: “Winners: Little Grosvenor - Charm and happy/chatty locals. Avon Packet - Best beer garden. Mardyke - Cheap pints.”

While there are many pubs and establishments in the area to choose from when it comes to getting a drink with friends, Josh picked just seven for his ‘pub crawl’ around the harbourside. The pubs included were: Avon Packet, The Little Grosvenor, the Orchard Inn, Nova Scotia, The Bear at Hotwells, The Mardyke and The Myrtle Tree.
On his Twitter post, many seemed all for the idea and claimed some of the pub choices were great, some even suggested they may give it a go themselves.
One commenter said: “Some proper pubs on there, the Nova Scotia does decent pub food if you are hungry.”
Another said: “I never knew the Avon Packet had a beer garden. Will check it out.”
While a third said: “Superb idea. I’m bookmarking this tweet, thank you.”
Josh also shared the post on the Bristol page on Reddit where he received mixed reviews with some suggesting there were better pubs, but they were further front he harbour than Josh had gone. Others suggested other places with one saying ‘The Coronation’ off Coronation Road would be a good one to try.
