It is hard to imagine Kevin Stefanski, two-time (and reigning) NFL Coach of the Year in danger of being a Black Monday casualty. He is vulnerable because the 3-12 Cleveland Browns have been subpar. The Browns are just one year removed from the team’s impromptu playoff appearance led by Joe Flacco signed as a free agent midseason.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Stefanski can breathe a sigh of relief as the Browns are not planning to make a coaching change. Stefanski will return for his sixth season as the Browns’ head coach in 2025.
Will Kevin Stefanski’s Staff Remain Intact?
It is unclear if staffing changes beneath Kevin Stefanski will occur. Ken Dorsey is the new offensive coordinator this season. He replaced longtime Browns’ OC Alex Van Pelt.
Another big change in this season’s Browns’ coaching staff was on the offensive line. Bill Callahan, regarded as one of the best in the business, left Cleveland to join his son, Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan. Stefanski selected Andy Dickerson to replace him.
Mike Vrabel‘s role as a consultant was always unclear, and recent reporting indicates he is the de facto offensive line coach. Many believe Vrabel, a native Ohioan and the former Tennessee Titans head coach, will be in the mix for an NFL head coaching job in 2025.
Though Kevin Stefanski’s role appears to be safe for 2025, he needs to turn things around next season, or it could be curtains for him in Cleveland. The Browns have too many talented players in their prime who are not getting opportunities to play in the postseason. Myles Garrett and Joel Bitonio publicly said they want to understand the team’s direction next season.
