Cleveland Browns Player Arrested For DUI And Property Damage

Cleveland Browns

A Cleveland Browns player was arrested on Wednesday night after allegedly crashing his vehicle through a restaurant in Key West, Florida, causing nearly $300,000 worth of damage. The player, a defensive lineman, reportedly drove his 2024 Hyundai SUV into the Red Shoe Island Bistro with a female passenger.

According to reports, the player, identified as Lonnie Phelps, did not cooperate with officers following the crash. He allegedly refused a breathalyzer test despite showing signs of impairment. Fortunately, the outdoor patio of the restaurant was closed at the time of the incident, preventing any injuries or fatalities.

The Key West Police Department stated on Facebook that both the building and the vehicle sustained significant damage. Despite the property damage, no injuries were reported as a result of the crash.

Police officers noted that Phelps appeared agitated during the interview process, providing vague responses when questioned about the events leading up to the crash. He was subsequently charged with DUI and causing damage to property or a person.

Lonnie Phelps joined the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent last year after playing college football at the University of Kansas. Although he spent the previous season on the practice squad, he reportedly signed a contract worth $795,000 for the current year.
