Clemson pass rusher Myles Murphy reportedly visits Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars have focused much of their pre-draft energy on evaluating the class of pass rushers and that includes Clemson’s Myles Murphy, who spent Monday with the team, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Murphy, who measured in at 6’5, 268 pounds at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine, wasn’t able to do drills at the event in Indianapolis or at the Clemson Pro Day due to a hamstring injury he suffered in training. But last week, Murphy did a private workout where he ran a 4.51 40-yard dash and posted a 31-inch vertical jump, according to Clemson.

In three seasons with the Tigers, Murphy tallied 17.5 total sacks and recorded at least 11 tackles for loss every year.

Mock drafters haven’t known where to put Murphy, with some — including Colin Cowherd — slating him to go as high as sixth overall to the Detroit Lions. Others, like Mel Kiper Jr., have Murphy dropping out of the first round, altogether.

The Jaguars were near the bottom of the NFL (26th) in sacks with 35 during the 2022 season. Earlier in the offseason, the team allowed Arden pass rusher Key to reach free agency where he joined the Tennessee Titans.
