Tottenham Hotspur have completed the fifth signing of the summer transfer window, welcoming Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet on a season-long loan, with no option-to-buy. The 27-year-old had been heavily linked with an exit from the Camp Nou and, despite having not been Antonio Conte's primary target, Spurs welcomed the France international to north London.
Lenglet started just seven times for the Spanish side in La Liga last season, with the defender out of favour under Xavi. Amid diminutive first-team opportunities at Barcelona, Fabio Paratici tried to lure the defender to N17 on loan 12 months ago but a deal never came to fruition.
But now, Spurs have finally completed a deal and the Frenchman is looking forward to working under Conte amid the Italian's rebuild. Speaking to the official club website, Lenglet said: "I'm very happy to be here. I am hungry. I want to play. I want to be the best soccer player, to help the team win trophies and fight.

"I want to be a good team-mate, a defender who can be aggressive and help the group win the ball. I spoke a lot with Hugo Lloris to know the city. It's a beautiful example for me to have him in the group.
"Not every player is in the second division in France and then plays for Barcelona. But I worked. I joined Sevilla, everything was good and then four years at Barcelona, I played a lot of games and we won trophies. Now I am in England to fight in the Premier League. I would like to win a trophy here at Tottenham."
Spurs' January signings, Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur, both made the move to the capital, settled in quickly and had an immediate impact on their new side. Conte will be hoping Lenglet can do just that and if there is anyone who will be able to get the best out of him at Tottenham, it's the Italian.
