Clement handed ‘eke out results’ advice as Rangers fail to pounce against Killie

Philippe Clement and Rangers are coming under increased scrutiny for their slow start to the season.

The latest blow came when Kilmarnock scored a late winner to secure a 1-0 home win over Rangers on Sunday to leave the Light Blues six points behind their fellow Scottish Premiership title challengers.

Some Rangers supporters in attendance at Rugby Park even displayed angry banners directed towards the Ibrox board.

Former Celtic manager Martin O’Neill hasn’t hidden his belief that his old club benefit from a strong Rangers - and he reckons Philippe Clement needs to find a way to ‘eke out results’ until he finds the winning formula.

Clement has been in the role for exactly a year yet has endured a whirlwind experience on and off the football pitch.

Speaking on talkSPORT this morning, O’Neill provided his take on Rangers’ recent troubles and said: “You have to eke out results, and until you actually get some clear pattern about your team, about the way they're going to play, just hang in there, go and win the game.

“And no matter how ugly it might be, go and win, you had the opportunity there, Celtic had dropped a couple of points.

“And it didn't happen at Kilmarnock. And I watched a fair chunk of the game as well too.

”They didn't look like scoring a goal. And that was the whole point and that's the feeling you get about this particular side.

“They have to go and win. They have to eke out about three consecutive victories to give themselves a bit of hope and a bit of confidence."
