Cleeks GC: Martin Kaymer's LIV Golf Team

Martin Kaymer smiles at the US Open.

Cleeks GC is one of the 13 LIV Golf teams and currently features four Europeans, captained by former World No.1 and two-time Major winner, Martin Kaymer.

Kaymer has been ever-present in the team and captain since the inception of LIV Golf, but the Cleeks line-up has changed dramatically in the first few years of its existence.

Starting with the very first event at Centurion back in 2022, the German was joined by Pablo Larrazabal, JC Ritchie and Ian Snyman before Turk Pettit and Scott Vincent came on board for the second event to play alongside Kaymer and Snyman. That changed again for round three at Trump Bedminster when Graeme McDowell, Laurie Canter and Spanish amateur David Puig joined the team.

Since then, Cleeks have signed a number of fresh faces - including Graeme McDowell - before settling down in 2024 and 2025 with a more established line-up. Frederik Kjettrup was the team's latest acquisition following Kalle Samooja's relegation in 2024.

The club earned its first podium finish at LIV Golf Bangkok in 2022 and added another in Jeddah as the 2023 season kicked off. Cleeks won their first LIV Golf team event during 2024 in Houston, and followed that an event later with a tie for second.

Cleeks GC's current line-up consists of captain Martin Kaymer, England's Richard Bland, Poland's Adrian Meronk, and Denmark's Frederik Kjettrup. Each has multiple pro victories and the quarter possesses a nice blend of exciting youthful talent as well as priceless experience and a winning mentality.

WHAT DOES CLEEKS MEAN?

For those wondering 'What does cleeks mean?' or 'what is a cleek?', here's LIV Golf's explanation: "The cleek was the driving iron of its day. Narrow club head. Little loft. Want to hit it low and long? The cleek was your club of choice, equivalent to the modern-day 1-iron. It required power and precision. Time to be bold. Time to shine."
