Claudia Winkleman has revealed what she believes is the perfect strategy to win The Traitors ahead of its second series.
The BBC show follows 22 strangers as they arrive at a beautiful castle in the Scottish Highlands to play the ultimate game of detection, backstabbing and trust, in the hope of winning up to £120,000.
TV presenter Winkleman, 51, fronted the first series, which became a word-of-mouth phenomenon following its premiere in December 2022, and is set to do the honours again for season two.
Speaking at a press launch ahead of the new series' launch on January 3, Winkleman shared what she believes to be the easiest way to win the show and revealed which stars she would like to see participate in a celebrity version.
The London-born star said that through observing the contestants, she has "worked out how to win is to be lovable and inoffensive and to be close to the Traitor."
She added: "I can’t say anything else, but that is the smart way to enter the castle. [To think], 'I don’t want to be a traitor; I’m just going to glide along here and not bother anyone and if I see someone I suspect, I’ll just get closer to them'."
She added that to be a successful Traitor, you also need "charm".
When asked if she would rather be a Traitor or a Faithful, Winkleman continued: "I think if you’re a Traitor, you feel you’re in control of the game – but I also feel you’re putting yourself on a ledge, so I think maybe I’d want to be a useful Faithful."
While she admitted that she would be "terrible" playing the game herself, she namechecked Victoria Coren Mitchell, Stephen Fry, Adam Woodyatt, and self-confessed Traitors fan Andrew Garfield, as her dream participants should the broadcaster opt to make a celebrity version.
