Classy Cyriel Dessers Rangers gesture revealed as club chief details unseen moment

Fraserburgh club secretary Finlay Noble has revealed a classy gesture from Cyriel Dessers just added to the special occasion of facing Rangers in the Scottish Cup.

The Highland League side were beaten 5-0 by Philippe Clement's team at Ibrox in the fourth round of the competition.

While the scoreline was a heavy one in the end - with Dessers netting a hat-trick - Fraserburgh did not in any way disgrace themselves, instead putting in a brave showing with the score just 1-0 at the break.

Noble has revealed - as told by Tam Cowan - that players, staff and Fraserburgh officials had a "brilliant day" and were treated "exceptionally well by everyone at Rangers".

The secretary did reserve special praise for Dessers, though, as he revealed a post-match gesture from the Rangers striker.

Dessers went into the Fraesrburgh dressing room after the match to speak to the players and congratulate them on their performance at Ibrox.

He then arranged for shirt swaps for Fraserburgh players to get shirts from Rangers first-team players.

On Off the Ball, Cowan said: "My pal who is the chairman up at Fraserburgh. A chap called Finlay Noble. He was obviously with the whole Fraserburgh mob down at Ibrox on Sunday. I knew he would be up in the posh seats because he is the chairman.

"I said you'll get a great view of the Fraserburgh fans so send me a picture as I want to see what the turnout is like. I knew the whole town would be down there, it was and it was great. Not only did he send me that, but he sent me this and I thought it was worth reading out and you'll understand why when I get to the end of it..."

He read: "Tam, Sunday was a brilliant day and one that will live long in the memory of everyone at the club. Cyriel Dessers spoke to our players in the dressing room after the match and told them all they should be proud of their performance and on how they conducted themselves.

"He then arranged to get all of our players the shirts that they desired - the ones they wanted to swap with the Rangers players - what a genuinely decent lad. We were treated exceptionally well by everyone at Rangers to be fair."
