Claridge's invites top UK chefs including Gareth Ward for one-night-only supper series

Mayfair hotel Claridge’s has invited some of the UK’s top chefs to cook at its chef’s table, as part of a new venture called the Kitchen Supper Series.

The series, which has been created in partnership with The Good Food Guide, will launch on September 25 with Simon Attridge, the hotel’s culinary director, cooking the first dinner.

He will be followed by the likes of Gareth Ward, of two Michelin star Ynyshir, twice voted the best restaurant in the UK; Sam Carter of famed Restaurant Twenty Two in Cambridge, Hrishikesh Desai of Cumbria’s Farlam Hall; the Little Chartroom in Edinburgh’s Roberta Hall McCarron; and Elly Wentworth of The Angel in Dartmouth. The run will take diners through from late September to July of next year.

Each will cook at L’Epicerie, the chef’s table overlooking the hotel’s kitchens, which has room for 14. Prices for each evening will vary, depending on the chef, but both the Attridge and Ward events will cost £475 per head. Usual “interactive experiences” at the table cost £450.

Attridge said of the project: “The L’Epicerie is at the beating heart of the kitchen here at Claridge’s and we are proud to introduce these suppers to showcase the best of culinary talent across the UK.

“Working alongside the distinguished network of The Good Food Guide, we look forward to exploring alternative and innovative menus and produce, whilst of course celebrating the timeless tradition of the hotel”.

Adam Hyman, the Good Food Guide’s publisher, said, “Since it launched in 1951, The Good Food Guide has always been about showcasing the best cooking around Britain.

“We are incredibly excited to collaborate with Claridge’s for the Kitchen Supper Series and bring some of Britain’s best chefs to the heart of Mayfair to cook their food with Simon and his team.”

The full line up is as below:

  • Wednesday September 25: Simon Attridge, Claridge’s
  • Monday November 11: Gareth Ward, Ynyshir Restaurant (Wales)
  • Monday January 20: Sam Carter, Restaurant Twenty Two (Cambridge)
  • Monday March 10: Roberta Hall-McCarron, The Little Chartroom (Edinburgh)
  • Monday May 12: Elly Wentworth, The Angel, Dartmouth (Devon)
  • Monday July 21: Hrishikesh Desai, Farlam Hall (Cumbria)
