The Munster Hurling Championship always delivers passion, excitement and drama and this year has been no exception. The 2023 decider between Clare and Limerick is the latest instalment of one of hurling’s great rivalries.
Limerick won the Division One tie, Clare edged the round-robin fixture and the winners of Sunday’s game will progress straight through to the All-Ireland SHC semi-finals next month.
The Treatymen, arguably, have won another battle between the teams in the build-up to the game with the Gaelic Grounds hosting the final.
Munster officials were set to announce Páirc Uí Chaoimh as the venue while Clare wanted the game in Semple Stadium. However, sensing they’d lose a vote and the game would be taken to Cork City, Clare said they’d rather play the game in Limerick.
Now, the challenge for Brian Lohan’s side is to repeat April’s thrilling win over the All-Ireland champions in their own backyard.
