Claire Sweeney shares truth about huge two day weight loss

Claire Sweeney has edited an Instagram post that told followers she had lost "nearly a stone" in just two days.

The Brookside star, 51, has made healthier changes in recent weeks, as she admitted she "bloody loves eating" but wants to be out of her Spanx by the end of the cabaret shows in July. On Monday she told her Instagram followers: "Love being curvy, but wanna feel fitter, stronger and shifting a little bit of timber won’t go amiss lol".

She also told a friend she had gained weight during lockdown in one of the comments on the post, and said it was "hard" to get back "on the wagon". Claire issued an update on Wednesday after making a bizarre discovery. It came after she weighed herself and noted her body measurements.

The actress said she had lost "nearly a stone" in weight in just two days, and vowed to ditch the scales and rely on things like how her jeans fit her instead. But on Thursday, Claire edited the post after making a realisation.

Numbers within the image said she weighed 12.06 stone on Monday, and 11.86 stone on Wednesday - meaning a loss of just over six lbs.

The post is now more accurately captioned: "Ok so this is mental!!! 6lbs lost in just two days . Goes to show, Don’t rely on the scales. It could be time of day you weigh yourself , how you position them, time of the month, Water retention. All make a difference. I’m gonna use my favourite Jeans as a gauge from now on . No wonder scales can wreck our heads. Favourite jeans and photo diary from now on!" [sic]

Fans are very much in agreement about ditching the scales. Taking to the comments section, noboozeforme_ said: "Don’t have scales in my house for this exact reason".

Lynne Roberts said: "I hate scales, I can vary by 4lbs or more by moving my scales slightly with my foot". Melanie Williams said: "I never weigh myself! Always gauge my weight by how tight my clothes are, weighing scales are bad".
