Claire Sweeney shares huge bruises after injuring herself at event

Claire Sweeney has put on a brave face after falling and hurting herself during an event at a school Sports Day.

The Brookside star, 51, shared a video of her injuries after tripping over during a sack race. She showed a number of bruises on her leg in a post uploaded to Instagram on Tuesday.

Another video showed the race itself, with a competitive-looking Claire initially taking the lead in the race.

Unfortunately, she appears to have tripped over the bottom of the sack and collided with the floor. Undeterred, however, she got up and carried on with the race.

Captioning the social media post, Claire said: "When you try to impress your child and it goes so wrong! He said to me 'what happens if you fall', I said 'get back up and carry on'.

"'But what happens if you really hurt yourself'. I said, 'get back up and carry on!!!' Something good came out of it."

In the comments section, Claire's friend and Radio City DJ Pete Price said he was "speechless". Fans also commented to wish Claire a speedy recovery.

Vic said: "Looks very painful. Hope it heals up quickly", while Maired Byrne said: "Yikes, but well done with the life lesson. Bet he's really proud of you". Lisa said: "Great mum, bet he is proud".
