Claire tweeted: "Parents out there, anyone’s kids play Roblox? Yesterday my son was playing, and I saw on the chat in the corner, someone was asking him to go to my purse, take out my credit card and read the numbers!!

"@Roblox seems a dangerous place for kids. Thankfully he told me!"

A spokersperon for Roblox said: "“We have a safety-first culture at Roblox and work tirelessly to maintain a platform that is safe, civil and welcoming for all.

"That includes zero-tolerance for behaviour that doesn’t meet our Community Standards and a robust set of safety features in place to protect user privacy, including features specifically aimed at protecting younger members of the Roblox community. These safety features include rigorous, industry-leading chat filters that prevent users from sharing or seeing personally identifiable information on Roblox, such as phone numbers or credit card information.

"You can learn more about our chat filters here: https://en.help.roblox.com/hc/en-us/articles/203313120-Safety-Features-Chat-Privacy-Filtering.

"We also empower and encourage parents to determine what is appropriate for their children by providing a suite of Account Restriction settings that can be used to restrict who children can interact with, what experiences they can access, and how much they can spend.

"You can find more information on our safety resources, including guidance for parents and caregivers to help them manage their childrens’ accounts, you can find it here: https://corp.roblox.com/safety-civility-resources/.” According to the NSPCC, Roblox does have community standards that outline what behaviour is and isn’t acceptable on the platform.
