Claire Sweeney hits back at 'fat shaming mags' saying she's not miserable

Claire Sweeney has hit back at "fat shaming mags" after one publication plastered unflattering photos of her across their front page.

On the front cover there was a photo of Claire last year when she lost weight, compared to recent snaps after she returned from a cruise.

The headline accompanying the photos said: "Claire's weight misery, two stone heavier after time abroad."

But Claire hit back at the magazine, saying she couldn't believe "fat shaming" was still going on in "this day and age."

ITV The Chase fans disgusted with Liverpool fan's actions

Former Brookside star Claire said she's grown a thick skin, but was worried for those in the public eye that weren't as "strong" as she was.

Posting on Instagram she said: "I cannot believe that in this day and age mags are still fat shaming. I’ve been in the business long enough to grow a thick skin.

"However I worry about those in the public eye who may not be so strong. Particularly relevant on Mental Health Awareness Week #nomisery ."

And fans were quick to comment with their support for the star.

Corrie star Catherine Tyldesley said: "Outrageous. You’re beautiful. I can’t believe they printed that xx"

Calum Best said: "Well said it’s not right."

Meghan Markle releases Archie's birth certificate with his place of birth finally confirmed

Another fan said: "Ignore them!!! You are BEAUTIFUL How disgusting after everything thats going on in the world! Xx?"

And a fourth added: "For goodness sake who really cares how much someone weighs. These vacuous magazine editors really need to get out more and realise no one cares. It’s who you are not what weight you are that matters. Anyway you look absolutely divine. You go for it girl."
