After the conclusion of the critically acclaimed series Homeland, actress Claire Danes and creator Howard Gordon are teaming up once again for a new project at Netflix. The streaming service has given a straight-to-series order for a limited series titled The Beast in Me, which will feature Danes in the lead role and be overseen by Gordon as showrunner.
The mystery thriller, created by Gabe Rotter, follows the story of Aggie Wiggs, a renowned author who has withdrawn from public life following the tragic death of her son. Aggie's life takes a dramatic turn when a mysterious real estate mogul named Nile Sheldon moves in next door. Sheldon, who was once a suspect in his wife's disappearance, becomes the focus of Aggie's new book as she delves into his past while confronting her own inner demons.
Rotter, known for his work on The X-Files, is set to write and executive produce the series alongside Claire Danes. Howard Gordon will serve as showrunner and executive producer, with additional executive producers including Daniel Pearle, Conan O'Brien, Jeff Ross, David Kissinger, and Jodie Foster.
The Beast in Me is a production of 20th Television, where Howard Gordon previously had an overall deal. Gordon, who most recently worked with Sony Pictures Television on the series Accused, brings his expertise to this new collaboration with Netflix.
Claire Danes, a multiple Emmy award-winning actress, gained recognition for her role in Homeland, for which she received critical acclaim and accolades. Her involvement in The Beast in Me marks another exciting chapter in her career, following her recent nomination for her performance in the FX limited series Fleishman Is in Trouble.
