Parts of a building in Leeds have been blown away due to the severe winds caused by Storm Eunice.

Shocking pictures of a huge part of Gateway Apartments have been shared online showing a huge chunk of cladding on the building on the ground.

Ryan Holroyd-Case shared images of the city centre apartment and he said it happened around 4pm today (Friday).

Speaking to LeedsLive, he said West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service attended to the scene and the safety officer said “things are in place to keep people safe.”

A yellow weather warning for wind is currently in place until 6pm, with strong winds expected across the country.

Gusts of up to 60mph are likely in the north of England according to the Met Office.

The nation has been warned of "dangerous conditions" as it is anticipated the storm could be the worst to hit the country in 30 years.

Severe disruptions are also expected, with multiple train operators issuing "do not travel" warnings and drivers being told to "avoid travel unless essential."

LNER issued a “Do Not Travel” warning for passengers and said there will be reduced train services between London King’s Cross and Leeds.

LNER added that tickets dated Friday, Feb 18, will be accepted for travel from Saturday, February 19, to Tuesday, February 22.
