CJI forms panel to probe allegations against Delhi HC Judge Yashwant Varma

New Delhi: In a significant development, the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna has constituted a three-member committee to investigate allegations against Delhi High Court Judge Yashwant Varma. 

According to Dynamite News correspondent, the three-member committee included Justice Sheel Nagu, Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court; Justice G.S. Sandhawalia, Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court; and Justice Anu Sivaraman, a judge from Karnataka High Court.

The Delhi High Court Chief Justice has been directed not to assign judicial work to Justice Varma.

Earlier, the Apex Court proposed  to transfer Justice Yashwant Varma to the Allahabad High Court. The development came after a huge pile of cash was reportedly recovered from Justice Varma's residence. 

Notably, the Delhi High Court has also initiated an internal inquiry into 'incident'.
