One of the unique features of the Steam version for Civilization VI are the monthly challenges. What happens is that for a limited time, players are given the chance to test their skills as a specific leader in a particular scenario. The first time that players successfully complete each challenge, they get to earn a new in-game Hall of Fame Badge.

For November, the Challenge of the Month has started with Age of Abundance. This one tests the leadership skills of the players and see if they can achieve a Culture Victory as the Greek general and politician Pericles.

In this challenge, players begin with two cities and 1000 gold. In addition, there's no barbarians present to interfere with whatever plans players have. By the way, the challenge is on the exact same map as other players around the world. The challenge ends December 12.

New Ways to Play

Civilization VI offers players new ways to engage with the world since the cities now physically expand across the map. In addition, active research in technology and culture unlocks new potential. Meanwhile, competing leaders now pursue their own agendas based on their historical traits.

Features of the game are:

  • Expansive Empires
    • See the marvels of the empire spread across the map like never before.
      • Each district, wonder, and improvement is built on its own hex.
      • This allows players to customize the city to their heart's content.
    • From the Commercial Hub to the Spaceport, each district provides unique and powerful bonuses.
      • Players have to pick and choose which districts to build to fit their needs.
    • Players have to build better than their opponents and place themselves strategically for their allies to become the best civilization on Earth.
  • Active Research
    • Boost the progress the civilization across history and unlock powerful bonuses.
      • To advance more quickly, players can use their units to actively explore, develop the environment, and discover new cultures.
    • Research isn't just limited to science.
      • Explore the Civics tree to unlock powerful new governments and cultural policies
    • Players can cultivate the civilization that fits their playstyle or switch it up every time you play.
  • Dynamic Diplomacy
    • As the game progresses, so do the diplomatic relationships.
      • From primitive first interactions where conflict is a fact of life, to late game alliances and negotiations.
    • Carry influence with nearby city states to gain its diplomatic allegiance and earn game-changing city-state bonuses
    • Enlist spies to gather crucial intel on rival civilizations, steal precious resources, and even topple governments.

Civilization VI is available for the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch. It's also accessible on mobile platforms through iOS and Android.
