The Paramount+ and Showtime series is based on Amor Towles’ internationally bestselling novel. Ewan McGregor is starring in the series as Count Alexander Rostov, a Russian aristocrat who’s forced to make a life for himself in a hotel after being banished there by a Soviet tribunal.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead, known for her role in the TV series Fargo, is also starring in the show as Anna Urbanova, a glamorous and beautiful actress at the height of her fame. In the book, she dazzles Rostov and the pair strike up a romance from inside the Hotel Metropol as the fallout of the Russian Revolution happens around them.
Mary is also married to Ewan McGregor in real life. Others in the cast of the new series include Johnny Harris, Leah Harvey and Paul Ready. Ben Vanstone is writer, executive producer, and showrunner and it will be directed by Sam Miller who has worked on This Life and Luther.
The production is an eight-part series and it is unknown when it will be released.
