City Splash festival 2022: Tickets, line-up and all you need to know

One of London’s freshest festivals is making its return to south London.

City Splash, which landed for its inaugural appearance on the capital’s festival scene last summer, is gearing up for another day music, food, and more.

Here’s what you need to know.

When and where is City Splash?

The one-day festival will take place in Brockwell Park on Sunday May 29. Doors are set to open at midday, with the action wrapping up at 9pm.

Who’s on the City Splash line-up?

The festival is dominated by reggae, dancehall and Afrobeat, but the line-up is broadly dedicated to music from the Caribbean and Africa that has since made its mark on British culture.

Banku pioneer Mr Eazi, dancehall and reggae icon Barrington Levy, and modern reggae favourite Protoje are among the biggest names, but there’s plenty to look forward to among the 50-plus acts on the programme.

Standout names range from the seminal dub producer Mad Professor and South African star Moonchild Sanelly, to dancehall moderniser Alicai Harley and UK garage veterans Heartless Crew. There are some Notting Hill Carnival legends dropping in, too — the likes of Channel One, Rampage Sound and Saxon Sound among them.

The full line-up is below.

How about the food?

Black Eats LDN, the Black-owned restaurant directory, is in charge of the food — you might know them from the Black-Owned Hackney markets it runs in east London.

More than 40 food traders have come together, with the dishes matching the music, taking inspiration from the various cuisines of Africa and the Caribbean, offering the classics — jerk chicken, fried plantain and the like — and more, alongside a selection of rum, craft beer, stouts, spirits and more.

How can I buy City Splash tickets?

General admission tickets are currently on sale for £44.50, although you can get cheaper tickets (£35) if you opt for the ones that mean you have to turn up before 2.30pm on the day.

Children aged 10 to 17 years old will be charged £19.50, while under 10s go free.

How to travel to City Splash

Herne Hill is the nearest train station, while Brixton on the Victoria Line is the closest Underground stop (it’s also part of the Night Tube, for any after-hours journeys). For the buses, there are a few options — 3, 68, 196, 201, 322, 468, 690 — with two night buses as well: N3, N68.
