City roundabout to partially close for four months amid bridge repairs

A MAJOR roundabout in Scotland's capital is to close for several months in the New Year due to a railway bridge replacement.

Edinburgh’s Cameron Toll roundabout was closed or partially closed for nearly six months this year for essential gas works and a collapsed sewer.

Now planned works to repair the railway bridge are set to get underway in January and are estimated to be completed in April.

Work will commence on Monday, January 13.

A spokesperson for Network Rail gave an overview of the works in a statement.

They said:  "The work will include installing a new deck including a new waterproofing system, masonry and steelwork repairs, ballast retention, upgraded low bridge warning signs, and vegetation management. "Work will start on Monday 13 January and continue until Friday 11 April 2025. "In order for the work to be delivered safely, there will be night-time single lane road closures at Cameron Toll roundabout from Saturday 18 January until Friday 28 March. There will also be a full road closure between Wednesday 5 February and Tuesday 18 February, when the bridge will be demolished and reinstalled. They added: "I appreciate there has been a lot of disruption in this area recently and it is difficult for residents and those travelling in the area when there is further disruption. However, this work has been delayed due to the emergency utilities works and it is vital that the bridge replacement takes place as planned. "Those living near the site have received letters with details of the work, but I appreciate that many more people will pass through the area or use the road."

Network Rail have asked any concerns or questions to be communicated directly on 03457 11 41 41 or via their website.
