A city centre restaurant has been given a huge accolade in their first 18 months of being open.
Manifest in Watkinson Street, the Baltic Quarter, was named one of the top 100 restaurants in the UK at the Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards. The announcement was made at a ceremony at the Hurlingham Club in London on Monday, June 12.
Manifest, headed up by chef Paul Durand and his wife, Charlotte Jones, was the only restaurant from the city to appear on the coveted list. Restaurants are voted for by a panel of elite chefs, restaurateurs, food writers, and critics from across the country.

The restaurants are judged on various factors, including menus, quality, and presentation. Manifest was named the 100th best restaurant in the UK.
The National Restaurant Awards Website said: "Occupying the ground floor of a converted warehouse, the industrial-style restaurant serves a regularly changing menu with wine firmly in mind, with a solid selection of drink-friendly snacks leading into a menu of small and larger plates. Prices are accessible with snacks of ‘still warm’ salt and vinegar crisps, and house sourdough with Lancashire whey butter only setting you back a few pounds and this pricing structure continues with small plates hovering around the £11 mark and mains not breaking £30.
"What makes Manifest stand out from the crowd, however, is chef-patron Durand’s craftsmanship. Breads and oils are made in house as are preserves, pickles, ferments and brews that elevate dishes and breathe new life into classic combinations.
"Here is a restaurant that almost demands experimentation and repeat visits."
This isn't the first award the restaurant has receive, Manifest was listed in the Michelin Guide in 2022, just four months after opening.
Paul said: “It was a real honour to on the list and recognition of the hard work of my team since opening 18 months ago.”
Moor Hall in Aughton, Ormskirk was named the best restaurant in England with Ynyshir in Wales being named the best in the UK.
