City Football Group appoint Arsenal favourite Steve Bould as new Lommel SK manager

Arsenal favourite Steve Bould has landed a new managerial role with Manchester City parent company the City Football Group. Bould spent decades as a player and coach in various roles for the Gunners and is preparing for a new challenge over in Belgium.

The 59-year-old has been appointed as head coach at CFG -owned Lommel SK. Lommel compete in Belgian First Division B (1B Pro League) and finished sixth in the table last season.

Speaking at the time Lommel SK were purchased, CFG chief Ferran Soriano said: "Belgium is one of Europe's best football countries as demonstrated by success of the national team - and the development of world-class players some of whom we know very well like Kevin de Bruyne and Vincent Kompany.

"This investment is part of our long-term strategy. CFG were attracted to Lommel's culture, training facilities and commitment to youth development and we look forward to learning from their approach and helping the club to evolve in the months and years ahead."

Bould spent over 10 years as a player with Arsenal and held several coaching roles at the club from hanging up his boots in 2000 to when he eventually departed the club in 2021 - some 33 years after first arriving from home-town Stoke City. Bould succeeds Brian Eastick in time for the 2022/2023 season.
