Plans to open a popular Asian-inspired food chain in a derelict shop have been rejected as it would damage the 'vibrant' city centre shopping experience.
Itsu had applied for permission to open their second-ever Scottish store on Gordon Street after a successful launch in Edinburgh.
The company is famous for its healthy dishes including sushi, gyoza, rice bowls, and noodles which are all under 500 calories and priced under £7.

Plans to open have now been thwarted after council planners concluded that the unit should remain as a shop.
In their opinion, the proposal 'fails to protect and enhance the vibrancy of the city centre shopping experience'.
The report adds: "The proposal would contribute to the proportion of ground floor units operating within a class other than Class 1 Shops within the Gordon Street Level 3 designated Primary Retail Street, exceeding the 30% permitted by policy.
"It would not provide an additional active frontage to the street, and it would not deliver the re-use of long-term vacant premises. The proposal, therefore, fails to support a balance of retail and non-retail uses within the Primary Retail Street."
The developers will now be able to appeal the decision.
