City centre hotel unveils makeover

A hotel on The Strand in the centre of Liverpool is undergone a major facelift.

The Liverpool Central The Strand Travelodge has 141 rooms and the makeover is set to complete later this week.

The project is part of the brand's new 'budget luxe' design, and includes a full interior remodel - including an overhaul of its bedrooms and bar/café area - as well as the introduction of a new rich navy blue brand colour.

The initiative also includes a number of sustainable touches, such as carpet being made from recycled fishing nets to support clean oceans.

Travelodge launched its multimillion-pound investment programme in April 2022, with plans to refresh 60 UK hotels. To date, 30 have been completed, two of which are on Merseyside.

Last month, the ECHO took a look inside the Travelodge Wallasey New Brighton venue, which was the first in the group to be upgraded.

Stacey Coleclough, who is hotel manager at Liverpool Central The Strand Travelodge, said: "My team and I are delighted that our hotel is one of the first Travelodge’s to be upgraded to the new budget-luxe premium look and feel design. This is our most radical brand transformation to date and the budget-luxe design certainly has the wow factor for our customers.

"The Travelodge budget-luxe design has been created in response to ever increasing expectations from customers. Britain is now a nation of budget travellers, with more of us choosing to stay in budget hotels than any other hotel type and thoughtful, stylish design and homely touches really matter in today’s world when staying away for business or leisure."
