The Botanist is launching an under a tenner set-price lunchtime menu, hoping to help ease the cost of living crisis. The chain, with sites on Deansgate and Didsbury as well as in Alderley Edge, Knutsford and Chester, will unveil the new menu across all its UK restaurants.
It will feature a range of dishes costing £9.95, including variations on a number of their menu items, including a chicken katsu and noodle salad, a Philly cheese-steak sandwich, and fish and chips with mushy peas and tartare sauce. It’s also offering its ‘hanging kebabs’ on the cheaper lunch menu, with flatbreads and hummus.
The idea behind the menu is to ‘encourage people to continue socialising in restaurants and bars without worrying about spending too much money, whilst concerns around the cost-of-living crisis continue to grow’.

Executive Chef at The Botanist James Scott said: “People see our venues as their sanctuary, and we want them to feel they still have somewhere to come for respite, to forget about their day-to-day worries for a few hours, especially during this extremely tough time.
“Our new lunch menu offers the same home-cooked comfort food that diners have come to know and love when visiting our restaurants, at a fraction of the cost of our main menu items – giving them value for money but the same fresh, quality, seasonal ingredients.” The menu will be available daily from 12pm to 4pm.
It comes as restaurants and hospitality businesses across the country face growing concerns over inflation, energy bills and rising costs of raw materials across the board. This week, the prime minister Liz Truss announced caps on energy bills for businesses for the winter, though some have said that the help does not go far enough.
The menu also follows similar moves made by chef Tom Kerridge, who has devised a £15, two-course menu at three of his restaurants. Earlier this week, The Black Friar in Salford launched a cheaper Monday menu, with dishes starting at £12.
