City centre bar closes with 'return to life' replacement planned

A popular Berry Street bar has shut up shop after being open for just over a year - but it's not all bad news.

River North launched on Berry Street in October 2021, quickly establishing itself as a cool and contemporary destination for those seeking good food and decent drinks. The venue replaced Wolf and Waffle, which closed in the summer of 2021.

Now, River North - which is from the team behind popular venues including Petit Cafe Du Coin and Papillon - has permanently closed, with a new site currently in the works. River North is set to be transformed into a new bar, Lucky's.

The spacious site - which boasts a summer terrace ideal for the coming warmer months - will relaunch as Lucky's in February. The bar already boasts an Instagram page, setting the tone with moody black and white imagery and pops of neon pink.

After recently sharing a clip to the hit social media site, the team cryptically penned: "Awake from death, Return to life. Lucky's opening February '23." Lucky's will host live DJ sets, while offering patrons a selection of cocktails, beers and wines. It will also sell 'packet ramen'.

River North was based at 37-43 Berry Street, Liverpool, L1 9DF.
