Ciryl Gane had UFC gold around his waist, and he’ll start his quest to get back there again Saturday.
The Frenchman finally has a chance to fight in front of his home fans when he headlines UFC Fight Night 209 in Paris, where he lives and trains. Gane (10-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) takes on Tai Tuivasa (15-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC) in the heavyweight main event.
A win for Gane will get him back on track after a title unification bout against champion Francis Ngannou in January. Gane, who was interim champ at the time, lost for the first time with a unanimous decision setback in the UFC 270 headliner.
Ahead of Saturday’s big headliner, Gane was put in position to not have to think about MMA at all. He sat down with the UFC to answer questions that had nothing to do with the sport. What are his thoughts on movies, karaoke, France’s famed macarons vs. cookies and more?
