Ciryl Gane buckles trainer's leg with ferocious kick ahead of Francis Ngannou clash

Cyril Gane buckled his trainer Fernand Lopez's leg with a heavy kick as he completes his preparations for his heavyweight clash with Francis Ngannou.

The French star will take on champion Ngannou this weekend as he attempts to complete his rise through the UFC.

He has been preparing with trainer Lopez who is embroiled in a bitter feud with former mentee Ngannou.

Lopez was holding pads in footage released on Instagram which showed Gane practicing his leg work, captioned: "A hard, fascinating and gratifying job... but hard nevertheless. The power is real ladies and gentlemen."

The Frenchman lands an extremely powerful leg kick on the leg of Lopez that sees his leg collapse from underneath him and he winces in pain.

Despite clearly being in pain Lopez walked away from the incident, mumbling: "I'll be alright just pain that's okay."

Gane then responds afterwards, joking: "Is my man serious? Let's not go hard on the low kicks it is alright."

The 31-year-old has shown that he carries power throughout his heavyweight career, dismissing Derrick Lewis in his last bout to become interim champion.

Victory over Ngannou could cement a potential shot at UFC superstar Jon Jones if he is to make a return at heavyweight.

Gane is being trained by Lopez who has added extra fuel to the rivalry due to his deteriorated relationship with his former fighter Ngannou.

The Cameroon star branded his former trainer "evil" after his gym released footage of Ngannou and Gane training together which he took as an attempt to unsettle him in the build-up.

Tensions rose further at UFC 267 where the pair of fighters met backstage but Ngannou refused to shake Gane's hand.

Despite the potential high stakes in their heavyweight duel Gane has refused to get drawn into any antics as he looks to become champion for the first time.

He is confident that he can steal the belt and would like to see the UFC make a maiden appearance in French capital Paris if he is crowned champion.

"If I win, I think I can ask the UFC and I can work for this I little bit more because I will be the champion, so I hope this is going to help me to do that," he told Mirror Fighting .

"Of course, this is a dream of a lot of fans in my country, for this is my dream also. I want to bring the UFC to Paris and me with the main event."

Ngannou's future in the UFC beyond his defence against Gane remains uncertain as his contract stand-off with the promotion continues.

However it looks increasingly likely his future could involve exploits in the boxing ring as he looks to add a clause in any new deal that would allow him to face Tyson Fury.
