Cindy Davis' New Top 5 Prime Day (2) 2024 Picks

Prime Day 2.

This year, Prime Day is two days! The price of one of my top picks from yesterday has been slashed even further. Who knew?!?

I used to hit "refresh" and scour Amazon for Prime Day deals. Now, I hit refresh on my trusted resources and sister publications, TechRadar, Tom's Guide, What Hi-Fi, and T3. And the best part about these recommendations is that they have been reviewed by trusted experts so, you're not taking a leap of faith based on a low price.

Following are products from Prime Day yesterday and today.

They've since been replaced by the True Wireless 4, but these remain excellent wireless earbuds. Combining a spacious, refined sound with aptX support and a natty design, they're a solid option, and even more tempting at this price. Five stars

Grab the Nikon D780 DSLR for its lowest-ever price

Nikon D780: was $2,296.96 now $1,596.95 at Amazon

TechRadar rating: 4.5/5

"Nikon is now focusing attention on its mirrorless cameras, but there's still very much a case for Nikon DSLRs in 2024, especially when there are deals this good: Amazon has slashed $700 off the 24.5MP Nikon D780, bringing it to its lowest-ever price.

"The D780 is Nikon's most modern DLSR and a fantastic full-frame all-rounder, combining great image quality, a weather-proof build, superb battery life and modern autofocus skills. You'll miss out on in-body image stabilization by opting for a DSLR over a mirrorless model like the Z6 II (also on sale for just $1,596.95 at Adorama, was $1,996.95), but having used these cameras extensively I can tell you there's a case for both DSLR and mirrorless.

"You can also get the D780 with the 24-120mm f/4 lens for $2,096.95 at Amazon, again that $700 off. If you're going to be buying more lenses after purchase, you'll find DSLR lenses are cheaper than mirrorless ones, so this D780 deal could be the best pick for serious photographers - Timothy Coleman, Cameras Editor

Samsung 990 Pro 4TB: was $464.99 now $291.57 at Amazon

TechRadar rating: 5/5
The Samsung 990 Pro is as good a PCIe 4.0 SSD as you're going to be able to find, and for 4TB of super-fast storage, this Prime Day price can't be beaten.

In my review, I wrote: "With solid capacities at a fair price and the fastest read/write performance of any PCIe 4.0 SSD we’ve tested, this SSD should definitely be at the top of your list if you’re looking to upgrade or do a new PC build."

I stand by that assessment more than a year after I first reviewed it, and while this isn't the absolute lowest price we've seen, it's still an absolute bargain for under $300. If your motherboard or console storage doesn't have a heatsink, though, be sure to select the heatsink option from the Amazon page for a few bucks more, since this SSD will run hot under heavy use – John Loeffler, Computing Editor

JBL Xtreme 2 was $350 now $149 at Walmart (save $151)
When we reviewed this larger portable speaker, we concluded: "One of the best portable speakers around, the Xtreme 2 offers sonic subtlety you wouldn’t expect from first impressions". And look at that discount from its original MSRP! Five stars

WD Black C50:
was $149.99 now $117.79 at Amazon

TechRadar rating: 4/5
If you're looking to save slightly more than what's possible with the Seagate deal above, then this lowest-ever discount on the WD Black C50 should be your next port of call.

I'm a proud owner of this storage device, and it's currently sitting in the back of my Xbox Series X, providing an extra 1TB of storage space. And I've rarely had to delete games since.

The WD Black C50 is impressively compact, meaning you also don't run the risk of it snagging something in your gaming setup. Honestly, until we see potential 2TB Xbox console revisions, this card is the next best thing – Rhys Wood, Hardware Editor, Gaming

Only the Best Audio Quality Will Do

There's no such thing as "good enough" when it comes to audio. So, if you don't already own outstanding in-ear or over-the-ear headphones, I highly recommend you take advantage of some deep discounts.

Sony WH-1000XM4 was $350 now $198 at Amazon (save $152) LOWEST PRICE EVER

These comfortable and lightweight headphones offer up sensational audio quality. Plus, you get good noise-cancelling and battery life. With 43 per ent off, this is a great price for these former What Hi-Fi? Award-winners. Five stars

AV Technology's Cindy Davis owns the XR-65A95K and couldn't recommend this more highly.

Sony XR-55A95K was $3,000 now $2,479 at Walmart (save $521)
The Sony A95K was the first QD-OLED we tested. Its combination of Quantum Dot and OLED technologies results in a picture with incredible contrast and colors, all tied together with Sony's usual cinematic subtlety. It sounds very good by TV standards, too. A very expensive TV at launch, this trailblazer is now much more affordable. Five stars

Shure MV88+ Video Kit was $249 now $174 (save $75)

If you're doing any kind of streaming with live audio, do your listeners a favor and buy a great microphone. And you can't beat Shure. This isn't Shure's top-of-the-line podcasting microphone, but I'm "sure" it won't disappoint.

LG C3 65-inch OLED TV (2023): was $2,499.99 now $1,396.99 at Amazon

Could this be the best Prime Day TV deal of 2024?

TechRadar's Al Griffin has written countless deal posts about the highly-rated LG C3 OLED TV, and this is the lowest price he's ever seen on the 65-inch model.

LG's C3 OLED is one of the best TVs you can buy. Its latest Alpha9 Gen6 chip produces a brilliant picture with bright colors and powerful contrast. Plus, it has four HDMI 2.1 ports for the best gaming experience on next-gen consoles, a sleek, thin design, and an updated webOS experience.
