The Cincinnati Bengals have introduced a new helmet, capitalizing on the NFL’s new rule permitting teams to don a second helmet a few times a year.
This new helmet, as many fans expected and the team hinted, boasts white and black stripes.
The Bengals teased a new helmet a week or so before the big reveal. Then on Friday, they merely asked fans to get 10,000 likes on a picture of Burrow before they dropped the big reveal.
Fans wanted to see the Bengals get creative with a new helmet once the NFL changed up the one-helmet rule first implemented in 2013, but it was unclear if they’d go with innovative white and black stripes to pair with the Color Rush, don a throwback helmet or something else. Either way, re-doing the jerseys made it clear a new secondary helmet was on the table, too.
The announcement comes on the heels of fans asking for it after the Houston Texans received widespread praise for a new alternate helmet and the New England Patriots paired a new throwback helmet with throwback jerseys.
A deal's a deal. 🤝
